The Library's mission is to provide resources, services, and a place to read, connect, relax, and learn. The Library supports literacy, life-long learning, civic engagement, and cultural awareness. To achieve these goals, the Library provides: access to library materials and guidance in finding quality, trusted information, events for all ages to support life-long learning and early literacy, and school year and summer programs to promote a lifetime love of reading. The Library helps adults and children by offering access to hundreds of thousands of books, audiobooks, e-books and other materials. Thousands of patrons are reached through outreach activities to schools, homebound patrons, Roxbury Book Nook, and community events.
Who We're Looking For
The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a Library Technician for the Community Services Department's Library Division. The Library Technician works as part of the Support Services team. Under the direction of the Support Services Manager, and the Collection Development Managers, this position performs all copy cataloging functions including maintaining database, verifying data, and creating a record. The most competitive candidate will have knowledge of library operations, terminology, copy cataloging and integrated library software, specifically Innovative Interfaces, Inc.'s Sierra Acquisitions, Authority, Cataloging, and Serials modules. Candidates should know the basic use and structure of MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging) and RDA (Resource Description and Access) records. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is also a plus. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a willingness to work cooperatively with colleagues, ability to multitask priorities and have excellent follow-up skills.
Work Schedule
All work will be performed on-site at the Beverly Hills Public Library, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. This is a non-teleworking position.

Salary and Benefits
$71,018.88 - $87,975.72 Annually
This position is represented by the Municipal Employees Association, Technical Services and is covered by the negotiated terms and conditions of that Association's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts degree including or supplemented by courses in library sciences or a related field and two years of experience performing subprofessional library work in a public library, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
